Boniface Mganga was a Kenyan choral director and politician from Taita-Taveta. He started as a young civil servant in President Daniel arap Moi's office. At just 21 years old, he founded the Muungano National Choir. He mixed traditional Kenyan folk rhythms with classical choral music to create a distinct, powerful sound. His choir toured the world and gained international fame. In 1988, he directed the famous Missa Luba recording featuring Spanish tenor José Carreras.
