Bernard George Kobena Brako was born on May 20, 1952. Most people know him as Ben Brako. He is a famous Ghanaian highlife singer and songwriter. He helped modernize highlife music and took it to the world.

Ben grew up in Cape Coast, Ghana. He loved music and entertainment from a very young age. Even so, he took his schoolwork very seriously. He later earned a degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ghana.

Before making music full-time, Ben worked as a teacher. He also worked as a company executive. In 1986, he moved to London to record his first solo album, Baya. It came out in 1987 and became a massive hit. Songs like "Meko Mekrom" made him a household name. He even won Musician of the Year awards for his work.

Ben later earned a second degree in Media Communication Studies in London. Over the years, he released many popular highlife albums. Today, he is also a traditional chief and a Pan-African cultural advocate. He works to help young people through the Dream! Child Foundation.
