Bunny Mack was a Sierra Leonean musician who pioneered the "Discolypso" sound. Born Cecil Bunting MacCormack in Freetown, he picked up music as a child and sang with local bands like The Soundcasters. He moved to the UK in 1970 to pursue his career. In 1979, he scored a massive global hit with "Let Me Love You," earning a Gold Disc and international acclaim for his blend of disco, calypso, and West African rhythms. His iconic 1981 Let Me Love You album featured backing work from high-caliber African session musicians, including Ghanaian guitar legend Alfred "Kari" Bannerman and Nigerian producer/multi-instrumentalist Jake Sollo. Later sampled by modern artists like Wale and Lady Gaga, Mack passed away in London in 2015 as one of West Africa's legendary pop icons.
