Kiko Kids Jazz

 Formed in Tabora in the mid-1950s, Kiko Kids Jazz was one of Tanzania's earliest dance bands. The group was led by Salim Mohamed Zahoro, who sang and played electric mandolin, with support from musicians Salum Omari Bwanza, Mahmud Ahmadi, and Hassan Luhende. They mixed regional rhythms with Cuban son, early Congolese rumba, and Taarab styles. Songs like "Sili Sishibi," "Mapunda," and "Tanganyika Na Uhuru" show off their easygoing, guitar-driven sound.
