Mary Atieno Ominde is a Kenyan gospel singer, songwriter, and teacher who became well-known in the 1980s. Blind from early childhood, she broke through societal barriers to join the Voice of Kenya (VOK) Choir before starting a solo career backed by the ICC Praise Team. Her major albums, like Adam na Eva and Njoo kwa Yesu, combined clear scripture-based lyrics with the acoustic beats of early Zilizopendwa and choral arrangements, deeply influencing Kenyan Christian music. Alongside her musical work, she spent decades teaching high school in Nairobi, where she focused on mentoring students and advocating for the rights of people with disabilities.
