Nyamari Ongegu, professionally known as Nyashinski, was born in April 1985 and grew up in Nairobi, Kenya. He first stepped into the music spotlight during his high school years at Nairobi School, where he teamed up with friends Collo and Roba to form the legendary hip-hop trio Kleptomaniax. Signed to the powerhouse Ogopa Deejays, the group dominated the East African airwaves in the early 2000s, producing defining Kapuka classics like "Tuendelee." However, at the peak of their national fame in the mid-2000s, Nyashinski made a quiet exit from the industry and relocated to the United States. He spent nearly a decade living away from the spotlight, taking a complete hiatus from performing while working as a commercial truck driver.

His return to music in 2016 delivered one of the most remarkable comebacks in Kenyan pop culture history. Re-emerging with the powerful hip-hop track "Now You Know" and the inspirational hit "Mungu Pekee," Nyashinski instantly proved that his sharp storytelling and vocal range were intact. Over the following years, he built a massive solo career through smooth love ballads like "Malaika" and "Bebi Bebi," bridging hip-hop, R&B, and pop seamlessly. With the release of his debut solo album Lucky You in 2020 and a steady run of major concert headlining spots, he has solidified his reputation as one of East Africa's most versatile, enduring music icons.
