Anthony Omondi Mumbo, better known as Omondi Tony, was one of Kenya’s greatest Benga and Rhumba singers. He was born in Siaya District in 1970. Music ran in his family. He was the younger brother of legendary musician Musa Juma. Early on, Tony sang with Ochieng Kabasele in the Luna Kidi Band. He also joined Hosea Songa in Solar Africa and performed with his brother in the Limpopo International Band. Later, he set off on his own to launch Classic Music Combination. Fans loved him for his signature tenor voice.

His discography packed a punch. Songs like Nyoremo, Jacky wa Tony, Vicky, and Amuga became fast favorites. In 2007, he teamed up with Congolese singer Mitudji Mpemba (Shiko) and Ochieng' Junior. Together, they dropped the hit album Akinyi Judy. The record featured the iconic title track and Wazazi Tusibague Watoto, a song offering practical wisdom for families. Tragedy struck in 2008. Tony died in a road accident in Mombasa on his way to a gig with Musa Juma. Though he passed away young, his soulful voice still resonates across East Africa today.
