Reuben Koroma is a Sierra Leonean musician who founded Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars while fleeing civil war in the late 1990s. Stuck in Guinean refugee camps, he gathered fellow displaced artists to bring hope and healing to survivors through music. They scraped together old instruments, mixed traditional West African rhythms with reggae, and built a joyful sound out of deep trauma. Their spirit caught global attention through an acclaimed 2005 documentary, launching Koroma and his band onto international stages where they toured for over a decade.
