Formed in the early 1970s out of the ashes of the Nigerian-Biafran War, the Oriental Brothers International Band became the heartbeat of Igbo highlife and a profound source of healing for East Nigeria. Anchored by legends like Dr. Sir Warrior, Godwin Kabaka Opara, and Dan-Satch, the group blended traditional folk rhythms with intricate, multi-layered Congolese guitar work to create an entirely unique sound. Even after bitter internal splits led to various splinter groups, such as the Kabaka International Guitar Band and Dr. Sir Warrior's faction, their collective output shaped West African music forever, with their hypnotic riffs even crossing the Atlantic to heavily influence Colombia's vibrant Champeta scene.
